Google's Man, Matt Cutts, On Wordpress

There is much chat around the internet about Search Engine Optimisation, usually referred to as SEO.

Much of it is ill informed and often regurgitations of inaccurate opinions by forum junkies who have not taken the trouble to find out for themselves what the facts might be.

Thankfully, Google decided some time ago to make their own contribution to helping us all to understand what they are looking for and made Matt Cutts available via their YouTube channel.  The video that follows is actually from the Wordcamp 2009 conference when he spoke about Wordpress.

If you don't have time to watch the whole thing then just take one piece of information away.  Cutts says that 80-90% of Google's recommendations for the technical aspects of search engine optimisation (as opposed to what and how you write) is carried out automatically when you use a Wordpress blog.

So if you are looking for SE ranking I can think of no sane reason to be using any other platform.
